We
brought a friend with us for lunch at Crackers Bar & Grill. We ate out
on the Tiki deck overlooking the water. Phil had a 1/3 lb
Cracker hamburger which was large and meaty along with their seasoned
French fries Judy had fish and chips and our friend had a
fried flounder sandwich. The lunches are large portions that
we barely finished. This is our 3rd trip back there.
It’s near the Homosassa Springs State Park which is convenient to bring
people to see the manatees. Crackers offers seasonal boat tours to
see manatee’s by reservation.

Bonefish
is a dinner restaurant. Appetizers are called Starters here and paired
with a Bonefish Salad can be enough for dinner. The Bang, Bang Shrimp is
fried shrimp in a spicy but creamy sauce, the Ahi
Tuna Sashami is sliced thin and seared with
sesame. It is as good a grade as in a sushi bar. The Muscles Josephine are
sautéed with tomatoes and garlic in a lemon wine sauce. There is a
Florida Cobb Salad if someone prefers to eat more lightly.
With
an entrée at Bonefish you can add a salad or cup of corn shower with lump
crab for an extra fee. The soup or salad is worth the extra charge. There
is a wide range of entrée choices. The Gulf Grouper Piccata
has a lemon caper butter sauce. Pistachio Parmesan Crusted Rainbow Trout
with artichokes, basil and lemon butter is rich and tasty. All the
Wood-Grilled Fish is available with four sauces but you can have all four
on the side. The Atlantic Salmon and Chilean
Sea Bass are two of the fresh fish selections. For meat lovers the Filet
Mignon is available in two sizes and the Sirloin Steak is well seasoned as
well There are also chicken, pork and pasta
dishes.
This
restaurant just introduced new menu selections called “
Hand Held” which include a Fresh Fish Sandwich, Bang, Bang Shrimp
Taco, and Maryland Crab Cake Sandwich. Bonefish Grill now also has Fish
& Chips. These items are more reasonable than the regular menu.
We
can’t wait to go back to the Bonefish Grill for dinner.

Stumpknockers
is informal with very interesting décor. The restaurant
is know for their “CatfishDinner” and
wonderful Fried Shrimp. Both are available for lunch or dinner.
At
lunch there are sandwiches including Hamburgers, Fried Grouper, Shrimp or
Oysters, Open Face Steak and lots more. There are also Light Lunch
choices. Dinner entrees include Rib Eye and New York Strip Steaks, Prime
Rib, Gator Steaks, Grouper, Frog Legs. Snow Crab Legs
and Mahi Mahi.
There are a large selection of choices and the
Gator Nuggets, Conch Fritters and Escargot are unique appetizer choices.
They also have Shrimp Cocktail, Fried Mushrooms etc. for those of us not
looking for the unusual.
There
is a second location on SW State Rd. 200 at the Withlacoachee
River Bridge in Inverness. It is called Stumpknockers
on the River and is only open for dinner. The décor is more interesting
at the On The Square location.
