Village Residents Association Meeting
April 13,
2010
President David Donihue called the meeting to order
at 3:30 pm. Approximately 19
residents attended.
Minutes
of the March 9, 2010, Meeting: A
motion to accept the minutes taken by
Fred Furst and read by Judy James was made by Mamie
and seconded by Lowell. Motion
approved.
Treasury:
Speaking in Ron’s absence, David reported a checkbook balance
of $1,216.18. A motion to
accept the report was made Janis and seconded by Janice.
Motion approved.
Decorating
Committee: Jim Woodruff
and Phil James have volunteered to co-chair the Decorating Committee.
Lee handles flag duties. The
next flag holiday to be observed is Memorial Day.
Social
Committee: Per
Mamie, Merrily is trying to get the group together to choose a
chairperson.
Sunshine
Committee: Janis reported
that one card has been sent since our last meeting.
Neighbor
Helping Neighbor: Janis
had no report.
Crime
Watch: Susan had no
report.
OLD BUSINESS
HOA
General Membership Meeting on March 26
- Phil
and David attended the meeting.
- The
HOA is in the process of assembling a 25-year history of the
Plantation. Each
household will receive a copy.
- The
palhoa.com Web site has a new section entitled SALE BY HOMEOWNER.
- Traffic
studies have been completed. The
speed limit for Laurel Valley Road has been increased to 20 MPH.
- Ashley
Pool will be heated geothermally year round.
- The
PRO Board has been officially liquidated.
Monies in their treasury will be turned over to the HOA.
- The
Woodworkers are raising money to pay for their new building.
- David
understands an occupancy permit has been issued to Plantation Plaza.
The Plantation itself has no monetary interest in the Plaza.
Dues
- Three
households haven’t paid their SRVRA dues for this year.
David has dropped their names from his e-mail distribution
list.
NEW BUSINESS
Sable
Ridge Resident/s of the Month: David
recognized the Yard Squad (Frank, Lee, Lowell, and himself) for trimming
shrubs, trees, etc. at three residences
Architectural
Review Committee (ARC) Meetings: Administration
Office at 8:00 am on April 14 and 28.
David reminded attendees the ARC will make routine inspections of
roofs, siding, and overgrown landscaping in April.
Leesburg
Food Bank: Mamie received
a letter from the Food Bank thanking SRVRA for the money donated at
Christmastime.
Relay
for Life: Janis reminded
everyone that contributions are still being accepted for the American
Cancer Society’s event to be held on the grounds of Southpointe Baptist
Church on April 23 and 24.
Block
Party: Judy James
reported this year 51 residents and three guests attended our 6th
Annual Block Party. In 2009
62 attended, including three guests.
Next SRVRA
Meeting: Tuesday, May 11,
at 3:30 pm in Ashley Hall.
50/50
Raffle: David won the
drawing; $19 will be added to our charity fund.
At 4:00 pm a motion was made to adjourn the
meeting, which was seconded and approved by all attending the meeting.
