 DECORATING/SOCIAL COMMITTEE

A list has been sent out twice to request that a Chairperson be named for these Committees but there has been no response.

Mamie reported that decorations for St Patrick’s Day are scheduled for setup and take down at 3:30pm on 3/13/10 and 3/19/10, respectively. For Easter set up and take down will be at 3:30pm on 3/27/10 and 4/7/10 , respectively. Notice of these  schedules will be posted on the web site or by e mail.

SOCIAL COMMITTEE

The Block Party will be held Friday 3/19/10 at the Weinstock’s and Jameses homes between 4pm and 7 pm.

A general discussion ensued regarding the original purpose of the activities; the frequency of social events; dropping attendance; the emphasis on maintaining the four principal events (Christmas; July 4th; Halloween; and the Block Party) Also discussed was the need for a Chairperson and the factors which may be reasons for the difficulty in getting a Chairperson (other things going on; people are busy; the frequency of meetings; too much on one person).

Ron suggested that at least the group should meet (especially focusing on the 4 main events) with one person “spearheading” this effort. Merrily volunteered to host a meeting toward that end. A date could be set , or such a meeting could be held  immediately following the April 13th SRVR Association meeting. The latter idea was accepted.

CRIME WATCH REPORT- There was no report

 OPEN HOUSE COMMITTEE

Dave Donihue is on this Committee and has had discussions with David Latiak, Plantation Manager. The Plantation dislikes Open Houses principally due to having had some property damage experiences.  Mr Latiak commented that he doesn’t know what will be done with the Open House matter. Dave  noted that he had a copy of Highland Lakes  policy on the subject.

Dave said that he has had several calls expressing frustration at not having Open Houses, Hopefully, attitudes may change on the subject. Janis suggested  giving the subject more exposure by posting it in the Plantation Times or bringing it up at an HOA meeting.

Discussion ensued regarding web site links to Plantation Realty & not other realtors being discriminatory. However, listings of homes for sale are on the Multiple Listing Service (MLS). Other comments were that the issue is not for us to solve; outside realtors can obtain visits in the Plantation; and   certain “for sale” signs of specified size and placement are allowed.

OTHER NEW BUSINESS

Dave Donihue reported on the PRO Board decision to terminate the group, the date being 3/9/10; the HOA Board general membership meeting on 3/26/10; and the Water Schedule changes to 2 days/week on Tuesdays and Fridays for Sable Ridge during the week of March 14, 2010. Also, March 14th is the  return of Daylight Savings Time.

 ATTENDANCE ISSUES

Discussion continued about the few numbers of Residents attending the monthly meeting; how to deal with a major issue when only few attend the meetings (not deemed a  major issue since major fund matters are addressed through other protocols). Should the meetings be less frequent; reminders could be sent verbally or by e mail. Next months’s meeting will be followed by light refreshments.
