Sable Ridge
Village Residents Association Meeting
January 12,
2010
President David Donihue called the meeting to
order at 3:30 pm. Approximately
22 residents attended.
Before the formal meeting began, David
introduced guest speaker Otis Maxson, Director of the Lake and Sumter
Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP).
RSVP places 55+ seniors in volunteer positions of their choice at
many local facilities such as LRMC, Cornerstone Hospice, Lake Sumter
Community College, and the Chamber of Commerce for short- or longer-term
assignments. Volunteers are
insured while traveling to and from their assignment and while they are on
duty. RSVP is located in the
Leesburg Senior Center, 1211 Penn Street (behind Bob Evans). For an interview or to learn more about the program, contact
Otis at 365-1995. He says
RSVP is all about having fun!
Minutes
of the December 8, 2009, Meeting:
A motion to accept the minutes as read by Judy James was made by
Janice Hayman and seconded by Mike Weinstock.
Motion approved.
Treasury:
Mamie reported the end-of-year bank balance is $803.59, which
includes $500 in reserve, $39.50 in the 50/50 fund, leaving $264.09 as
cash flow. A motion to accept
the report was approved by Phil and seconded by Mary.
Motion approved.
A motion made to accept the projected 2010
budget was approved by Ron and seconded by Pat Bond.
It includes $450 estimated income from membership dues and the
following budgeted expenses: Social
Committee – $225, Decorating Committee – $130, Web site – $25, and
Sunshine Committee – $20, with a cash flow of $50.
Smaller items not related to the budget should be paid through cash
flow if funds are available. Motion
approved unanimously.
Mamie also mentioned that SRVRA contributed
$347 to the Leesburg Food Bank: $247
from the 50/50 raffle, $100 from the Christmas party, and a $100 donation
from a neighbor.
Ron will send an e-mail requesting membership
dues for 2010.
Decorating
Committee: A new American
flag is needed for the entrance. The
Decorating Committee will look into the purchase price.

Valentine’s Day decorations will be put up on Wednesday,
February 10, at 3:30 pm and taken down at 10:00 am on Wednesday, February
17.

St. Patrick’s Day decorations will be put up on Friday,
March 12, at 3:30 pm and taken down at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 20.
Sunshine
Committee: On Janis’s
behalf, Susan sent three cards last month.
Neighbor
Helping Neighbor: Janis
had no report.
Social
Committee: Carole
would like to have the four bins of paper products removed from her garage
and stored elsewhere.

BUSINESS
PRO
Board Meeting on January 4, 2010: David
reported it was a short meeting with the Plantation Plaza the main topic
of discussion.
Plantation
Plaza Update: The
entrance into the Plaza is being expanded.
The water hook-up remains to be done.
David doesn’t know how much longer it will take.
Shared
Wells: Well drilling on residential lots will be on the agenda for the Friday, February 5,
HOA BOD Meeting at 10:00 am in Hermitage Hall.
David would like everyone interested in residential wells to
contact him. He is looking
for support from SRV residents at the HOA BOD meeting.
It was suggested that interested parties should meet with David
before that meeting.
NEW BUSINESS
SRVRA
Election: There were no
nominations from the floor to fill positions beginning on February 1,
2010. A motion was made by Phil to close the nominations and
another motion made by David Donihue and seconded by Mike to approve the
following Nominating Committee recommendation:
President: David
Donihue, Vice President: Mike
Weinstock, Secretary: Judy
James, and Treasurer: Ron
Makara. The motion was
approved unanimously. Officers
leaving the board were thanked and the new officers welcomed.
David passed around papers so that attendees
could sign up for the Social and Decorating Committees.
Members of the committees will choose their chairperson.
Those who signed up for the Social Committee are Judy Furst, Janice
Hayman, Ken and Merrily, Yolanda, and Mamie.
Rafael, Laura, Jim, Lee, Mamie, and Phil signed up for the
Decorating Committee. David
will send an e-mail asking for additional volunteers.
Sable
Ridge Resident/s of the Month Award:
David plans to nominate
residents for this award in 2010. The
award will be for both present and past work benefiting the Village.
The award for December 2009 went to Santa’s Elves – Janis
Weinstock, Susan Woodruff, and Judy James for delivering over 700
Christmas cards to their Sable Ridge neighbors.
Architectural
Review Committee (ARC) will meet at 8:00 am on Wednesday,
January 20, February 3, and February 17 in the
Administration Office.
2010
(2011) Christmas Party: David
has reserved Saturday, January 15, 2011, from 5:00 to 10:00 pm at the
Manor for SRVRA’s next holiday party if that venue is needed.
PRO
Board Meeting: The next
meeting is scheduled to be held on Monday, February 1, at 7:00 pm in
Hermitage Hall.
February
5 Plantation HOA BOD Meeting: In
addition to well drilling on residential lots, other items on the agenda
are speeding, an open house,
Glen Eagle road resurfacing, and more.
Next
SRVRA Meeting: Tuesday,
February 9, 3:30 pm at Ashley Hall. Walter
Wolf, Crime Watch Coordinator, Lake County Sheriff’s Office, will be the
guest speaker. He’s asked
us to allot 45 minutes for his presentation.
The meeting may last until 5:00 pm.
David reiterated that he is always looking for
suggestions for changes and improvements to our association.
Hosting
Covered Dish Dinners at the Manor: Janis
asked attendees if they were ready to take on another covered dish dinner.
The response was “no.”
50/50
Raffle Fund: Hope won the
raffle; $19 will be added to the charity fund.
At 5:00 pm, Rafael made a motion to adjourn the
meeting, which was seconded by Mike.
