Sable Ridge Village Residents Association Meeting

December 8, 2009

President David Donihue called the meeting to order at 3:30 pm.  Approximately 11 residents attended.  David explained that according to our guidelines a majority of SRVRA residents at a meeting constitutes a quorum.

Minutes of the November 10, 2009, Meeting:  A motion to accept the minutes as read by Judy James was made by David Donihue and seconded by Phil James.

Treasury:  No report.

Decorating Committee:  No report.  However, the HOA Manager has distributed an e-mail telling when Christmas decorations can be put up at the village entrances.

Sunshine Committee:  Janis sent three cards since the last meeting.

Neighbor Helping Neighbor Report:  Per Janis, this is on hold until at least January.

Social Committee:  Meeting attendees thanked Hope for her work as Social Committee chairperson and also those who worked behind the scenes.  Twenty-eight residents attended the redesigned Christmas party, which was deemed a success.  Upcoming events:  The December 9 cookie exchange at Hope’s and the Men’s Tuesday Morning Breakfasts.

Fred reported only 13 people responded to the Social Committee survey.  Top preferences were the neighborhood block party, mystery dinner theater, Christmas party, Kentucky Derby, and the wine and cheese party.  Fred will turn over the results to next year’s Social Committee.

Crime Watch:  No report from Susan; however, she cautioned everyone to be on the alert during the holiday season.

OLD BUSINESS

HOA Annual Meeting and Election on December 1:  The five people who ran for the board were elected to fill the five vacancies.  David reported that two main topics of discussion at the meeting were the Laurel Valley speeding issue and the strip center.

Shared Wells:  David reported there could be no drilling without 50 per cent of residents approving.

SRVRA Meeting Day/Time Survey:  David received 22 responses; the overwhelming response was to continue meeting on the second Tuesday of the month at 3:30 pm.  A discussion of ideas to increase attendance followed.  Phil observed there is greater attendance when guest speakers are invited to our meetings.  Let David know if you have suggestions for increasing meeting attendance.

Sable Ridge Christmas Cards:  Janis distributed some cards at the meeting; other cards will be delivered about once a week.

Plantation Strip Center Update:  Apparently the developer is still waiting for permits. The HOA Web page contains a section on the Plantation Plaza (www.palhoa.com -> NOTICES-REMINDERS -> scroll down to Plantation Plaza).

NEW BUSINESS

SRVRA Election:  Election of officers will take place at the January meeting with nominations accepted from the floor.  The new term begins February 1, 2010.  People are needed to step forward for the future.  The following residents have agreed to serve if elected:  President:  David Donihue, Vice President:  Mike Weinstock; Treasurer:  Ron Makara, and Secretary, Judy James.

Social Committee 2010 and Chairperson:  A Social Committee chairperson – or alternative – is needed.  This item will be revisited at the January meeting.

Architectural Review Committee (ARC) meets at 8:00 am on Wednesdays,

December 9, January 6, and January 20 in the Administration Office.

Card Making Club hosted by Janis Weinstock and Susan Woodruff meets every Saturday from 12:30 to 3:30 pm in Ashley Hall.

2010 (2011) Christmas Party:  There is no 2010 date yet reserved on the Plantation activity calendar.  It was suggested a January 2011 party might receive greater response.

Plantation HOA Meeting:  The next meeting will probably be held in late January or in February 2010.

SRVRA Web Site:  Frank and Phil are trying to make the web site more interesting.  Frank will be adding graphics.  Send photos of community activities to Frank for posting.

50/50 Raffle Fund:  No raffle this month.

Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday, January12, at 3:30 pm in Ashley Hall.

At 4:40 pm, Janis made a motion to adjourn the meeting, which was seconded by Mike.

Respectfully submitted,

/Judith James, Secretary
