Village Residents Association Meeting
December 8,
2009
President David Donihue called the meeting to order
at 3:30 pm. Approximately 11
residents attended. David
explained that according to our guidelines a majority of SRVRA residents
at a meeting constitutes a quorum.
Minutes
of the November 10, 2009, Meeting:
A motion to accept the minutes as read by Judy James was made by
David Donihue and seconded by Phil James.
Treasury:
No report.
Decorating
Committee: No report.
However, the HOA Manager has distributed an e-mail telling when
Christmas decorations can be put up at the village entrances.
Sunshine
Committee: Janis sent
three cards since the last meeting.
Neighbor
Helping Neighbor Report: Per
Janis, this is on hold until at least January.
Social
Committee: Meeting
attendees thanked Hope for her work as Social Committee chairperson and
also those who worked behind the scenes.
Twenty-eight residents attended the redesigned Christmas party,
which was deemed a success. Upcoming
events: The December 9 cookie
exchange at Hope’s and the Men’s Tuesday Morning Breakfasts.
Fred reported only 13 people responded to the
Social Committee survey. Top
preferences were the neighborhood block party, mystery dinner theater,
Christmas party, Kentucky Derby, and the wine and cheese party.
Fred will turn over the results to next year’s Social Committee.
Crime
Watch: No report from
Susan; however, she cautioned everyone to be on the alert during the
holiday season.
OLD BUSINESS
HOA
Annual Meeting and Election on December 1:
The five people who ran for the board were elected to fill the
five vacancies. David
reported that two main topics of discussion at the meeting were the Laurel
Valley speeding issue and the strip center.
Shared
Wells: David reported
there could be no drilling without 50 per cent of residents approving.
SRVRA
Meeting Day/Time Survey: David
received 22 responses; the overwhelming response was to continue meeting
on the second Tuesday of the month at 3:30 pm.
A discussion of ideas to increase attendance followed. Phil observed there is greater attendance when guest speakers
are invited to our meetings. Let
David know if you have suggestions for increasing meeting attendance.
Sable Ridge
Christmas Cards: Janis
distributed some cards at the meeting; other cards will be delivered about
once a week.
Plantation
Strip Center Update: Apparently
the developer is still waiting for permits. The HOA Web page contains a
section on the Plantation Plaza (www.palhoa.com

NEW BUSINESS
SRVRA
Election: Election of
officers will take place at the January meeting with nominations accepted
from the floor. The new term
begins February 1, 2010. People
are needed to step forward for the future. The
following residents have agreed to serve if elected:
President: David
Donihue, Vice President: Mike
Weinstock; Treasurer: Ron
Makara, and Secretary, Judy James.
Social
Committee 2010 and Chairperson: A
Social Committee chairperson – or alternative – is needed.
This item will be revisited at the January meeting.
Architectural
Review Committee (ARC) meets at 8:00 am on Wednesdays,
December 9, January 6, and January 20 in the
Administration Office.
Card Making
Club hosted by Janis Weinstock and Susan Woodruff meets every Saturday
from 12:30 to 3:30 pm in Ashley Hall.
2010
(2011) Christmas Party: There
is no 2010 date yet reserved on the Plantation activity calendar.
It was suggested a January 2011 party might receive greater
response.
PRO Board
Meeting: The next meeting
is scheduled to be held on Monday, January 4, at 7:00 pm, in Hermitage
Hall.
Plantation
HOA Meeting: The next
meeting will probably be held in late January or in February 2010.
SRVRA
Web Site: Frank and Phil
are trying to make the web site more interesting.
Frank will be adding graphics.
Send photos of community activities to Frank for posting.
50/50 Raffle
Fund: No raffle this
month.
Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday,
January12, at 3:30 pm in Ashley Hall.
At 4:40 pm, Janis made a motion to adjourn the
meeting, which was seconded by Mike.
