Sable Ridge Village Residents Association Meeting

November 10, 2009

President David Donihue called the meeting to order at 4:35pm.  Approximately 23 residents attended.

Minutes of the October 13, 2009, Meeting:  A motion to accept the minutes as read by Judy James was made by Mary Makara and seconded by Mike Weinstock.

Treasury:  Treasurer Mamie Hevia reported a current balance of $929.98, which includes $16 in the 50/50 raffle fund, and $500 in reserve.  A motion to approve the treasurer’s report was made by Ron Makara and seconded by Janis Weinstock.

Mamie explained that cash flow money, which is not budgeted, is available for use voted upon by SRVRA.  A check for $247, raised by the monthly 50/50 raffle, was presented to the Leesburg Food Bank.  Outstanding bills should be presented to Mamie by the end of December.  The SRVRA newsletter will continue to be published electronically.

Decorating Committee:  Thanksgiving decorations will be put up on Saturday, November 21, at 3:30pm and taken down on Saturday, November 28, at 9am.

Sunshine Committee:  Janis sent out two cards either last month or this month.

Neighbor Helping Neighbor Report:  Per Janis, this is on hold until at least January.

Social Committee:  In Hope’s absence, Judy Furst reported the following upcoming events:

  • November 12 – our group will leave for Winter Park at 9am.  Cost for the pontoon boat ride will probably be $13.
  • December 6 – Christmas Party at the Manor with BYOB cocktails beginning at 5pm.  Make checks ($29 pp) payable to SRVRA by Thursday, November 19.
  • December 9 – Cookie Exchange at 1:00pm at Hope’s.
  • Every Tuesday at 8:29:16am sharp – Men gather in front of Lowell’s to go out for breakfast.

Fred needs more responses to the social events survey.  Responses, which are due to Fred by Friday, November 20, can either be submitted individually or jointly as a couple.

Crime Watch:  Susan reported that Walter is working on some new technology.  Be careful when walking your dogs near Woodruff’s and Weinstock’s because of the possible presence of wild animals.

OLD BUSINESS

PRO Board Meeting on November 2:  Dave and Phil attended the meeting.  One item of discussion was possible elimination of the PRO Board but it was felt there still may be a need to keep it as a sounding board for residents.  An item of concern is speeding along Laurel Valley Road voiced by Laurel Valley residents.  They will also be voicing concern at the Annual HOA Board Meeting at 3pm on December 1.  Voting takes place that day from 10am to 3pm.  Dave invited SRV residents to attend that meeting to express concerns, either pro or con.

Walk Around with Teresa Watkins:  Phil reported the walk around for the five families who have signed up will take place beginning at 1pm on Monday, November 16.  He’s hoping an HOA Board representative will be participating also.

Shared Wells:  Dave had no news to report.

 NEW BUSINESS

SRV Election:  Volunteers are needed to fill the positions of President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.  Terms begin in February 2010.  Contact Nominating Committee members Dave, Lowell, or Herb if interested.

SRV Monthly Meeting Surveys:  Dave will hold off another week.  Please respond to his e-mail survey.

Architectural Review Committee meets at 8am on Wednesdays, November 11, and November 18.

Next PRO Board Meeting will be held on Monday, January 4, 2010, at 7pm in Hermitage Hall.

Sable Ridge Christmas Cards:  Dave wants to send out an e-mail to residents soon.

Veteran’s Day:  Dave asked all veterans to stand for recognition.

50/50 Raffle Fund:  Susan Woodruff won the 50/50 drawing; $23 was added to the fund.

Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 8, at 3:30pm in Ashley Hall.

At 5:30pm Mike made a motion to adjourn the meeting, which was seconded by Phil.

Respectfully submitted,

  /Judith James, Secretary
